The Federal Government has announced that three new chillers would soon
be installed at the international terminal of the Murtala Muhammed
Airport, Lagos to address the challenge of heat at the international
terminal of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos.
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), in a statement on
Tuesday, said that the government opted for a complete replacement of
the old cooling system as a lasting solution to the epileptic cooling
system at the terminal which was installed over 32 years ago and had
become difficult to maintain.
According to the statement, the situation explains the sub-optional performance of the cooling system at the terminal.
The statement said, 'The procurement and installation of the three new
chillers, due to be completed within the first quarter of 2014 is
expected to substantially improve the cooling system and thereby enhance
passenger comfort at the terminal, in line with FAAN's mission of
providing customer-centric services at all our airport.
'This will also complement other efforts being made by the Federal
Government, under the Transformation Agenda in the aviation industry, to
modernise facilities at the Nigerian airports, in line with
international standards and best practices.'
