NYSC DG warns corps members against electoral fraud

Ahead of the 2015 general election, the Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier-General Johnson Olawumi, has warned corps members not to engage in electoral fraud.
Olawunmi issued this warning during his visit to the Rivers State Permanent Orientation Camp in Nonwa Gbam, Tai Local Government Area.

He reminded corps members that they were not employees of the Independent National Electoral Commission and should not collect any financial inducement from anyone.
Promising that the NYSC will pay corps members’ allowances promptly, Olawunmi pointed out that plans were in place to ensure the security and safety of corps members in the country.
“I am using the opportunity to caution corps members not to engage in any election fraud or malpractice during the 2015 general election. You should also shun any financial inducement from anyone.
“We promised to deliver corps members who came to serve their fatherland back to their parents in good health. We will pay your allowances promptly through the NYSC,” Olawunmi said.
He urged corps members to desist from unauthorized journey, recalling that some NYSC members had in the past been involved in road accidents while travelling without permission.
The NYSC boss advised corps members that rather than embark on unnecessary journeys, they should always meet their zonal and local government officers to help them solve their challenges.
On the skills acquisition training at the orientation camp, Olawunmi urged them to pay attention to the programme and strive to become more proficient in their field of endeavour.
