How to Hide Files and Folders on Every Operating System

files-and-folders-in-filing-cabinet
A hidden file or folder is just a normal file or folder with a “hidden” option set. Operating systems hide these files by default, so you can use this trick to hide some files if you share a computer with someone else.
This trick is far from foolproof. It’s trivial to enable the “show hidden files” option and find a hidden file. Operating systems hide many system files by default — just to get them out of your way.

APHPN backs FG on sept 22 resumption date

The Association of Public Health Physicians of
Nigeria has supported the Federal Government’s
position to reopen public and private primary and
secondary schools in the country on September
22.
In a statement signed by its National Chairman,
Prof. Tanimola Akande, and Secretary-General,
Mr. Sunday Aderibigbe which was made available
to our correspondent in Ilorin on Friday, it said
there is no evidence of an ongoing and
uncontrolled transmission of Ebola in Nigerian
communities. It added that Nigeria has managed
to control the disease.

The money the jet and the pastor by fani kayode

Much ado has been made about recent events in
South Africa concerning the Nigerian-owned jet
that was found loaded with millions of dollars and
that was in the process of procuring arms and a
fighter helicopter for the Nigerian military and
security agencies. As a former Minister of
Aviation, I wish to assure the general public that
the flying of large sums of cash by security and
intelligence agencies for the purchase of arms in a
time of war and conflict is something that is quite
normal and that it happens quite often. As a matter
of fact, it happened under successive Nigerian
governments, both military and civilian.

collapse hit 80. Among the dead were 67 South

The Lagos State Building Control Agency has,
therefore, marked the main building of the church,
asking for relevant documents to prove its
structural integrity.

woman hanging on atree.

There was confusion on Bankole Street, Isheri-
Oke, Lagos on Friday morning when residents
woke up to the sight of a woman hanging on a
tree.
The woman, popularly called Kate in the area, was
found dead in a black sweater and orange skirt
under a pear tree.
Our correspondent, who also visited the scene,
gathered from the residents that the woman did
not live on the street.

Residents who spoke to our correspondent also
said that the woman was a Liberian who worked
in a sachet water factory before she died.
While they said that the woman had been sickly
for some time, the residents said she did not
appear to have any problem with anyone in the
community.

Oscar Pistorius guilty of culpablehomicide

homicide, the South African term for

The verdict comes a day after Judge Thokozile

his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp — but he could
still end up behind bars.
The maximum prison sentence for culpable
homicide is 15 years.
Sentencing could be weeks away and will come
after more legal argument.
The verdict also dealt with three other charges, all
weapons-related.

shooting incident and illegal possession of
ammunition at his house. B

How to Test Your Internet Speed from the Command Line

Anybody who wants to test their connection speed can easily do so from a speed test web site — but that isn’t very geeky. Here’s how to do a test from the terminal prompt instead.
Note: If you are using Windows, you’ll want to either have Cygwin installed, or have a copy of curl or wget installed. On the Mac you can use curl, but if you prefer wget, you’ll need to install that.

Testing Internet Connection Speed with Curl

This is pretty simple. Just copy and paste the following command:
curl -o /dev/null http://speedtest.sea01.softlayer.com/downloads/test100.zip
The first thing to point out is that we’re using a test file from Softlayer, but if your connection is really fast, you might want to use a larger file from Thinkbroadband to properly test. Secondly, that -o switch is the lower case form of the letter O. It’s not a zero, and if you omit it, your terminal will turn into crazyville since curl will try to output to the screen — it’s also important because we’re outputting the file to /dev/null, which means it’ll basically be automatically deleted.

Testing Internet Connection Speed with Wget

If you prefer using wget, or that is what you have installed, the switch is the same. That is a capital letter “o” and it sends the output straight to null, so you don’t have any files to delete.
wget -O /dev/null http://speedtest.sea01.softlayer.com/downloads/test100.zip
This file is only 100 MB, so if you have a really fast connection, this isn’t going to work very well, and you’ll want to find a bigger file to download from the site linked above.

how to upgrade your laptop storage

windows-pc-laptops
Many new laptops, tablets, and devices in between are coming with an ever-smaller amount of storage. But you can expand your device’s storage without spending much money or time.
It’s actually a good thing that modern laptops are coming with less storage. This means they have faster-but-smaller solid-state drives. An SSD offers a much better desktop (or tablet) experience than a larger mechanical drive.

Chris Brown Explains How He And Drake Patched Things Up

For a while, it seemed like Chris Brown and Drake would be on the outs forever — but if Nas and Jay made peace, they could do it too, right? The two hitmakers finally buried the hatchet this summer, then did the best thing possible: they hit the studio.
So far, we haven’t heard the product of those sessions, but CB tells MTV News that it’s coming soon, and they plan on working together “continuously.”

how to erase virus and malwares from outside your system

scan-and-fix-infected-windows-computer
If a Windows system is badly infected with malware, running an antivirus from inside Windows often won’t help. You can more easily find and purge malware by scanning from outside Windows.
Malware can hide itself on an infected system, avoiding detection. Other malware may attempt to battle the antivirus software, preventing it from properly installing or scanning. This is why it’s important to catch malware before it infects you.

how to reset passwords in your computer

reset-or-bypass-operating-system-or-device-password
Passwords can be reset or bypassed on every operating system. On Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X, you can gain access to a computer’s unencrypted files after resetting the password — the password doesn’t actually prevent access to your files.
On other devices where you can’t gain access to the files, you can still reset the device and gain access to it without knowing a password. These tricks all require physical access to the device.

how to track your lost device..

remotely-track-lost-device-with-gps
Whether your device was stolen or simply lost, you can remotely track, lock, and wipe it. Don’t wait until you’ve lost your hardware to think about this — these features need to be enabled ahead of time.
This requires that the device is powered on and has a connection to the Internet. This is easy if you’re tracking a phone with a data connection, but harder if you’re tracking a laptop that may be offline or powered off. read more after cut

remain shut till all those under surveillance for

popularly known as Christ Embassy, Pastor Chris
Oyakhilome, has urged members of his
congregation to pray for his estranged wife, Anita.

reportedly levelled against him by her, he
described them as “frivolous charges.”
Oyakhilome also lamented that the media had
been writing all sorts of “stupid things” about him
and his marriage.

different allegations during his lifetime,
Oyakhilome asked Nigerians to refrain from
unfairly criticising him.

Chinyere justifies the effort of the state government

How much sex will do in a relationship

Do you take a roll in the hay every night, once or
twice a week, monthly or at no particular time? For
the good of your own relationship, how much sex
should you be having? Many couples do find
infrequent sex to be an issue. While some are fine
with the occasional 5-minutes romp under the
sheets, others wish they were getting a whole lot
more.
There are women who worry that their men
demand too much sex and secretly wish they’d
slow down. But a lot more men complain that it is
their women that are not giving it up as often as
they (men) desire.

were fewer queues, the customers said that they
were avoiding the N65 extra charges as announced

Nigeria NFF vs Fifa

The Secretary-General of the Nigeria Football
Federation, Musa Amadu, has written the world
football governing body, FIFA, intimating it of the
latest development in the country’s football
house.
Amadu told newsmen in Abuja after the close of
work on Monday that the letter was to inform FIFA
that he and few others returned to office and
worked in the football secretariat unhindered.
The News Agency of Nigeria recalls that FIFA had,
on September 3, threatened to suspend Nigeria
from football after it declared as illegal the August
26 election that produced Chris Giwa as NFF
Chairman.
FIFA had subsequently directed that the Aminu
Maigari-led NFF board be returned to office to
supervise a fresh election into the federation’s
board.
It also directed that the Maigari-led group return
to office on Monday to perform their duties
unhindered.
Amadu said, “I can confirm to you that I did write
a letter just now to FIFA, which I copied CAF,
informing them about the event of today.
“The development is in line with FIFA directives
that we be allowed to come to the secretariat and
do our work unhindered.
“Also, those persons, claiming to be elected, did
not come to the office just to allow us to do our
work and I think at the end of the day reason has
prevailed.
“This is because the crisis is inimical to the
development of football for a big country like
Nigeria which is a powerhouse in African football.
“I believe that the event of today will be cemented
and peace will return to the Nigeria football.”

Over 20 suspected members of the deadly Boko Haram sect were on Sunday killed in Buratai town during a siege to the residence of the former Commander, Niger-Delta Special Task Force, Major General Tukur Buratai, an indigene of the town. It was learnt that the insurgents also attacked a primary school in the town, Buratai Central Primary School. Buratai is a lonely town in Biu Local Government area of Borno State, which is a distance of over 200 kilometres from the state capital, Maiduguri. Mallam Idi Buratai, a resident of Buratai, told journalists on Monday in a telephone interview that over 50 gunmen invaded the town on motorcycles and Hilux Vans and attacked the residence of the army general and the primary school, which they succeeded in razing down. But they however met their waterloo as they many of them were killed while a few others fled in various directions. Idi said, “The soldiers, guarding the residence of the former task force commander, in collaboration with their colleagues from Biu Military Barrack and some members of the vigilance group, repelled the attackers, killing over 20 members of the sect.” Idi added that the terrorists set on fire all the telecommunications masts in the town. He explained that the terrorists, who stormed the town at about 9.30am on Sunday, came through Buni-Yadi, a Yobe town, which is under the sect’s control. A resident of the town, who fled to Biu, Bukar Buba, also told journalists on the telephone that the soldiers, guarding the general’s residence, successfully repelled the attackers.

How to buy items on twitter

Twitter's giving new meaning to impulse buy.
The social network known for relaying information
quickly is testing a way for mobile shoppers to
purchase items directly from tweets. A small
percentage of US users will see a "Buy" button
within tweets, Twitter announced Monday.
"This is an early step in our building functionality
into Twitter to make shopping from mobile
devices convenient and easy, hopefully even fun,"
Twitter said in a blog post . The service, available
for Twitter's iOS and Android app, will eventually
expand to more users.
It's a potential revenue stream for a company
that's still figuring out how to make money off its
users. Currently, Twitter's main business is
advertising. Adding an e-commerce component
also gives Twitter the ability to store users' credit
card information for repeat purchases. Reports of
this service have circulated the rumor mill for
several months.
To power the service, Twitter partnered with e-
commerce sites Fancy, Gumroad, and Musictoday,
as well as payment service Stripe. It's not clear
how Twitter is splitting the profits with its
partners. The companies cover a wide range of
products and services -- Fancy uses social media
to sell physical products, Gumroad is a platform
for digital products and Musictoday was a pioneer
in pre-sale concert tickets.
After hitting "Buy," a user will see the product's
details and a prompt for shipping and payment
information. Once that's complete and submitted,
Twitter will hand the order over to the merchant.
The company said the information is encrypted --
merchants won't see the actual credit card
information without permission -- and stored after
the first purchase, but users can also remove the
information from their accounts.
Twitter is coupling the button with special offers
and exclusive merchandise from merchants, which
includes brands and music artists like Burberry,
Home Depot, Demi Lovato, and Pharrell, as well
as nonprofits like GLAAD and DonorsChoose. The
company said it's adding more merchants in "the
coming months."
Twitter isn't the first social media to try out
shopping within its channels. Facebook started
testing "buy" buttons within ads in July, and third
party companies have been experimenting with
selling things through social networks, including
Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, for years. Even
e-commerce giant Amazon has entered the social
media shopping game. It launched its own
campaign in May, allowing consumers to tweet
hashtags that add items to their Amazon carts

How you keep your computer awake with jiggle

We've all been there: You're watching a video or running a slide deck, when suddenly the screen dims. Or you step away from the PC for an extended period and come back to find it
locked out or in standby mode.
Why does this happen? Because Windows hasn't
logged any mouse or keyboard activity, so its
power-saving settings kick in.
Sure, you could monkey around with Windows'
power settings, forcing the system to avoid
screen-dimming, standby, and other power-
saving modes -- but that's a hassle.

Manchester United have dismissed speculation overRadamel Falcao's age
